Been working to prep a big client speech (delivered today) in HK and so have put Nassim Nicholas Taleb’s Black Swan book to one side.
Two ideas that struck me in the first third of the book:
1. how our culture pushes us away from the outlying data points, the unexpected outcomes that are truly disruptive of markets and our lives (the black swans of the title)
2. how much easier it is to make sense of things after the face (as we’ve been mulling on recently…)
Both big enough to handle this warm evening in Hong Kong…
