Interesting piece in Adage today pondering how the new social media tools are going to change the way that the US election process works.
Another way of looking at it is that the US elections are going to tell us a lot about the way the new tools work…or don’t.
You see, I’m afraid we’re getting excited about technology and ways of doing things and turning them into the status quo we seek to replace with them. I suspect things are – in the words of the old IKEA ad – rather “less stiff”.
We’re going through a continuous period of change and discontinuity. Not a simple step change. That’s what makes it so exciting to be working in the area right now…
